International Information Sessions
Every Wednesday (August 28–December 18) from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. EST
Use the link below on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. EST to chat with a Graduate Studies representative. You will be able to ask any questions you have about the application process or being a graduate student at IUP.
IUP offers numerous master's and doctoral degree programs with different application requirements.
The IUP Office of Admissions oversees the admission process for graduate students, but there are additional requirements for international graduate applicants:
View our online brochure.
International students are not admitted for summer terms unless they are applying to a “summer-only program” or they are already IUP students. Several IUP graduate degrees are eligible for an additional 24-month STEM OPT extension.
Paying the application fee is the final step before submitting your application electronically.
Please make sure you meet all the admission and program requirements before submitting your application. Under no circumstance will the application fee be waived or returned.
International students applying for graduate admissions must demonstrate English proficiency.
This requirement may be waived* for:
- Residents of countries where English is the dominant language. Countries not requiring English proficiency test scores

- Applicants with an official transcript indicating the degree was taught and examined in English
- Students with conditional admissions who have successfully completed the ALI Bridge pathway program. Conditional admission is only available for select graduate programs.

Candidates must submit course-by-course evaluations of their degree(s).
International students must send official transcripts directly to the educational credential evaluation organization for review. This evaluation process can take three to six weeks, and costs associated with the evaluation are the student's responsibility. IUP cannot forward official transcripts to educational credential evaluation organizations.
Below is a list of categories where international students do not need to use an educational credential evaluation organization:
- Degrees from US universities,
- US government sponsorship (Fulbright, etc.),
- Select offshore IUP programs,
- Exchange partners, and
- Select IUP agents.
Please note that transcripts from international students who are not required to use an educational credential evaluation organization must be in English, have the official seal of the institution, and be sent directly to IUP.
All international students must complete a financial affidavit showing they have enough money to cover the cost of two semesters at IUP.
