The Admissions Office gives exceptional incoming students who are residents of Pennsylvania priority consideration for some of the most rewarding scholarships available from IUP through the Promising Scholars program.
To ensure consideration, students must:
• Apply for admission to IUP by October 31• Have at least a 3.00 GPA• Score 1000 or higher on the SAT critical reading and math sections or a 21 on the ACTs• Be a PA resident
The award covers up to full in-state tuition and is renewable yearly based on academic performance. Additionally, students who are awarded scholarships through the Promising Scholars Program have an opportunity to attend the MVP event, an on-campus visitation program for students and parents funded by the Office of Admissions, as well as participate in the Promising Scholars Mentorship Program once enrolled.
Note: Meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee a scholarship, only consideration. Applicants will be invited to a Promising Scholars interview event in Philadelphia and required to submit an RSVP form with additional information and short essay questions. This form is provided to students who meet minimum qualifications beginning in mid-October.
The Promising Scholars program and the scholarships awarded through it are managed by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students may be eligible for other scholarships awarded at the university regardless of participation in the Promising Scholars program.
