Top Students Can Enter The Honors Program for Anthropology
The honors program is open by departmental permission to declared
anthropology majors with a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and a 3.25 GPA in
anthropology courses.
Students complete ANTH 483; CHSS 489 (a
multidisciplinary colloquium emphasizing problem-solving, discussion,
reading, and writing on a topic or theme); and HNRC 499, which fulfills
the Liberal Studies Synthesis requirement. To determine how honors track
courses will integrate into existing requirements for the
anthropology major, students should consult their advisors.
To apply, students must petition the department honors committee for
admission no earlier than the completion of their sophomore year. An
application must be filed with the chairperson of the Department of
Anthropology and should include an application form, a letter of intent,
a description of the work plan, a full transcript, and two letters of
recommendation from faculty members.
