Gregory A. Steve earned his bachelor of science with a double major in finance and accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1988 and an MBA in finance from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business in 1991. He is a senior vice president and senior corporate banking business development officer at First Commonwealth Bank in Pittsburgh, Pa. In this capacity, Greg is responsible for leading business development activities for the commercial banking segment in all First Commonwealth Bank markets.
Greg has 30 years of banking and private equity experience. He served as SVP and regional sales manager at Wells Fargo and the national sales manager for Huntington Bank’s Asset Based Lending Group. Previously he opened and managed the Pittsburgh office for Huron Capital Partners as well as served as managing director and regional manager at National City Business Credit/PNC Business Credit. Greg began his career as a certified public accountant at Deloitte.
During his banking career, Greg has specialized and developed expertise in working with private equity groups in structuring senior financing solutions for merger and acquisition transactions. He has also managed, developed, and structured debt capital solutions for real estate investors, middle market, and large corporate clients on a national basis. His experience also includes turnaround and debt restructuring for a broad array of companies and industries.
He serves IUP as a board member for the Foundation for IUP and Residential Revival Indiana. He has also been a long-time member of the IUP Business Advisory Council. Greg is a past member of the IUP Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2002 to 2008. Greg also sits on the board of directors and serves as Audit and Finance Committee chair for Catholic Charities Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Greg is a past president of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and past president of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Commercial Finance Association. He also served on the board of the Turnaround Management Association in both Pittsburgh and Upstate New York. Greg has been very active in the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association as a youth league director and youth coach for baseball and basketball.
Greg was born and raised in Indiana, Pa. Greg and his wife, Gina, also a 1988 IUP alumna with a degree in natural sciences, live in Upper St. Clair with their four children: Thomas, Ally, Jack, and Sara.
