Graduation Checklist for Undergraduates

  • Here’s a handy checklist of things you need to know and do before leaving IUP.

    IUP Undergraduate Commencement Checklist

    • Access MyIUP
      • Apply for Graduation
        • August graduates are invited to walk in the May ceremony prior to their graduation.
      • Confirm your attendance by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2021, if you are attending the Undergraduate University Commencement Ceremony.
        • Students who miss the deadline of April 11, 2021, will regretfully not be eligible for guest  tickets.
      • Review Degree Works with your advisor in your college.
      • Verify your name and address (Personal Information tab).
    • Tickets
      • May ceremony is a ticketed event.
        • The deadline to confirm your attendance and to be eligible for two main arena tickets, is 11:59 p.m. on April 11, 2021.
        • Students who miss the attendance confirmation deadline of 11:59 p.m. on April 11, 2021, will regretfully not be eligible for guest tickets.
    • Available for Purchase from the Co-op Store:
    • Diploma Information
      • Apply for graduation (MyIUP > Academics > Academic Records > click Apply for Graduation), if you haven’t already.

        • Students can verify their graduation information is correct at MyIUP > Home > For Graduating Students > Signup. Check to make sure your name is spelled correctly, that your diploma mailing address is correct, and that your major and/or minor are correct. Enter a personal email address and select Confirm. Corrections to your address can be made during this process; others changes can be made by emailing

        • Honors Medallions (first baccalaureate students only) will be mailed to your diploma mailing address.

    • Confirm degree requirements again with advisor.
    • Clear financial obligations with the Office of Student Billing.
    • Participate in the IUP Commencement Ceremony.
    • Diploma will be mailed two to six weeks after last term of attendance.
    • Transcripts can be ordered through the Registrar’s Office.
      • To ensure your degree is included on the transcript, check “hold for degree” on the paper transcript request form. The transcript will be sent as soon as the degree is awarded.
      • If your degree is not needed on the transcript, order using any of the four options provided on the website.

    Do You Have a Loan?

    • If you have a Perkins loan, you should receive a letter in the mail approximately four weeks before graduation with instructions on how to complete your Perkins loan exit information online. You may also contact the Student Billing Office at 724-357-2207, ext. 2138.
    • If you have a Federal Stafford loan, it is important for you to go to the website and complete the exit counseling session. You may also contact the Financial Aid office at 724-357-2218.

    Your IUP Email Account

    Your IUP email account will become inactive 60 days after graduation. As an IUP graduate, however, you may enjoy a free alumni email account—IUP Live Mail—from the Alumni Relations Office.
