Culinary AAS Courses

  • Here are the requirements for the 60-credit AAS in Culinary Arts:

    48 credits from the major in Culinary Arts

    • 39 credits from the completion of Culinary Program Coursework and Externship
    • 9 credits from the Culinary Program will articulate toward the Liberal Studies requirement.

    12 credits in Liberal Studies

    Liberal studies is the common core curriculum required for all undergraduate students that includes subjects related to the humanities, arts, and sciences.

    Culinary Arts Program Courses

    Culinary courses are 15 days long. Get focused and dive deep into culinary topics and technique. These classes are offered in Punxsutawney.

    Liberal Studies Courses

    These courses follow a traditional college schedule. Classes are offered in Punxsutawney, Indiana, or online. 

    1. English: ENGL 101                                                                                            
    2. Humanities: HIST 196, 197, 198 or ENGL 121 or PHIL/RS course (Choose one
    3. Natural Science: Lab or Non-Lab Science (Choose one from the list of courses being offered the semester you are enrolling)
    4. Social Science: (Choose one from the list of courses being offered the semester you are enrolling)

    These Culinary Arts courses articulate toward your Liberal Studies requirement. You must pass these courses in the Culinary program with a C or better:

    1. Hospitality Mathematics (CMGT 1200) is equivalent to Liberal Studies, MATH 101
    2. Nutrition (CMGT 1301) and Nutritional Cuisine and Poultry Preparation and Cookery (CKRY 2001) are equivalent to Liberal Studies, Elective FDNT 145
    3. Introduction to computers (COMP 1000) and Computer Accounting Applications (COMP 2000) are equivalent to Liberal Studies, COSC/IFMG 101
