To minor in English, 18 credits in English courses are required beyond the Liberal Studies requirements of ENGL 101 Composition I and ENGL 202 Composition II.
There are several routes for making the most of an English minor. You will need to meet with the English BA program director, Professor Daniel J. Weinstein, to plan a minor to fit your interests and needs and gain access to courses that are normally restricted
to majors only.
A minor in English requires 18 credits in English courses beyond the Liberal Studies requirements of ENGL 101 Composition I and ENGL 202 Composition II. At least six of these credits must be numbered 300 level or higher. ENGL 121 Humanities Literature may be used to fulfill part of the 18 credits required. Of
these 18 credits, no more than six credits may be transferred to IUP from another university.
The following are just a few examples of possible routes to a minor in English. Adopt one of these, or plot your own unique path to an English minor when you meet with the BA director.
