IUP's STEAMSHOP will offer an introduction to digital electronics workshop at IUP at Northpointe [Google Maps].
This workshop is targeted to students and teachers from grades 8 to 12 who are looking for an introduction to building digital circuits with Arduino, writing computer code using a laptop in the Arduino software, and sending the code to the Arduino board. This workshop is geared towards those with no experience with electronics or Arduinos and requires only limited experience with computer programming.
The participants will learn the basics of electrical current, the use of some electrical components (such as LEDs, motors, resistors, photoresistors, transistors, sound and ultrasound sensors), how Arduinos take in information from sensors (like temperature, sound, light, humidity, motion), how to compute and build logic on that data, and then to output electronic signals to create action (like light, sound, motion). Participants will use a breadboard to assemble circuits and then alter programs to explore data collected from Arduino boards.
The event is free, but registration is required.
