Journalism and public relations majors at IUP are selected for the David J. Rovnan Memorial Journalism Scholarship.
The David J. Rovnan Scholarship award is open to journalism majors who are staff members and editors of the Penn. The selection is made in the spring semester. The recipient must be an IUP student in the fall and spring semesters following the semester in which the award was made. The amount of the scholarship award varies from year-to-year.
The awarding panel reserves the right not to award any scholarships during an academic year if none meets the required scholarship qualifications. Finalists may be invited to an interview by the awarding panel.
The David J. Rovnan Memorial Award was established in 1989 to honor the member of the Penn who best represents the journalistic ideals and practices and the high personal and professional standards set by David J. Rovnan, an IUP journalism alumnus who served as the Penn editor in 1984.
The scholarship was established through the generosity of the Joseph Rovnan family and by the contributions made by his many friends, fellow students, and colleagues.
