Bonnie Collura: Luster
October 06, 2011
Kipp Gallery, Sprowls Hall
Free Admission
Bonnie Collura creates abstract biomorphic sculptures and drawings that are rooted in figuration. Systems of connected characters are drawn together from mainstream popular culture, mythology, and folklore.
In her realm, iconic figures such as Snow White, Persephone, and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz can all relate. Each work in Collura's fantastic universe is an evolving assemblage of transplanted bodies and trademarks. The exhibit will display both the two-dimensional, collage-based drawings and a series of fiberglass resin cast sculptures.
