The mezzo-soprano voice of Raquel Winnica Young pianist Sun Min Kim in a performance of music by a variety of Spanish composers.
Ayres Ibericos represents a musical journey through different regions of Spain. The evocative compositions of Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados, Jesus Garcia Leoz, Federico Garcia Lorca and Xavier Montsalvatge revived the dormant folk elements of Spanish music during the 19th and 20th century. These will be paired with selections by Scriabin and Frank, both composers of the same era .
Both Winnica Young and Kim are new to the IUP music faculty, making their Indiana debuts with this unique program. Winnica Young is originally from Argentina while Kim is from South Korea. Both have extensive international performance credits.
Please note: This concert originally included guitarist Dieter Hennings. Unexpected conflicts will keep Mr. Hennings from performing on this program
