Fall Flurry

Using a combination of zoom and slow shutter speed, university photographer Keith Boyer captured a whirl of color as the grounds crew cleared leaves from the Oak Grove in November.

Rodger Says...

Sixty-five years ago during Homecoming, this banner billowed from the porch of the home management house along South 11th Street, near the current location of Cogswell Hall.

Sixty-five years ago during Homecoming, this banner billowed from the porch of the home management house along South 11th Street, near the current location of Cogswell Hall. Home economics students spent weeks living with an instructor in the house to take turns learning the roles of hostess, cook, housekeeper—and nurse. In a practice unusual by today’s standards, the students cared full-time for a baby provided by the Rosalia Foundling Home in Westmoreland County. In the fall of ’53, that baby was Rodger. Read more about him and the students who cared for him. Photo courtesy of Mary Verbish Lozovoy ’54

Early Evenings

’68 Greats

On December 14, 1968, IUP narrowly lost to the University of Delaware in the Boardwalk Bowl—the NCAA Atlantic Coast Region Football Championship. Played in Atlantic City’s Convention Hall, it was the NCAA’s first indoor title game. That same year, IUP’s golf team won the NAIA national tournament in Bemidji, Minnesota. Marking 50 years since that historic athletic season, players from both teams returned to IUP for reunions in October.
