This workshop will offer an overview of Motivational Interviewing (MI), defined as "a client-centered directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence" (Miller & Rollnick, 2002, p. 35), and will cover its basic principles (RULE)/strategies, basic skills, phases, and research support. This approach has been used with various types of clientele and in many different clinical settings.
