After forty years as a professor and a member of the library faculty, Dr. James Hooks will be retiring on January 14, 2011.

He began his academic career as a high school librarian at Fox Chapel High School in January 1964, continued at Hampton Township Junior-Senior High School, and joined the IUP library faculty in August 1970, with the specific assignment to branch campus library service.

He also served as chairperson of the Library faculty from 1988 to 1990.

He has co-authored several journal articles and one book on different aspects of librarianship, and he is a member of the graduate faculty at both the master’s and doctoral levels. He will continue to serve on five doctoral committees even into retirement.

The current and past faculty, staff, and students of the Armstrong/Northpointe campus wish Dr. Hooks a happy and well-deserved retirement.
