Dr. Kevin Eisensmith, professor of Trumpet at IUP, recently returned from TrumpetFest 2011, a one-week trumpet festival held in Orvieto, Italy.

Accompanying him were five of his trumpet students, including Adam Dolfi (Waynesburg, Pa.), Alexander Grisos (Chambersburg, Pa.), Stephanie Latella (Hazleton, Pa.), Brittany Spicer (Howard, Pa.), and Michael Wertz (Harrisburg, Pa.).

During the festival, Eisensmith and the students participated in daily rehearsals, clinics, and master classes, and performed in two different concerts. Classes in “survival Italian” and how to haggle with vendors were presented.

In addition, a master class was given by Italian trumpet artist Nello Salza, during which all five IUP students performed. Learn more about the Orvieto Music Festival.
