The Office of Alumni Relations will host a reception on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Rivers Club in downtown Pittsburgh. The event provides an opportunity for alumni to connect with other alumni and for students to connect with alumni. The event is just one of many that Alumni Relations hosts in various parts of the country to help keep alumni connected to IUP. All alumni are invited—including alumni who are employed by IUP—to participate and are encouraged to talk to students about the importance of building a strong network within the IUP alumni family, according to Mary Morgan, associate director of Alumni Relations.
“The ranks of IUP alumni number more than 115,000, and in the Pittsburgh area the number is more than 30,000 alumni. Helping each other and helping current students can be gratifying ways for alumni to give back to their alma mater,” Morgan said.
The event is being organized in conjunction with the Career Development Center. Students across the university are invited to attend and meet successful alumni. The students learn about networking in a reception setting and have the opportunity to build leads for internships and job opportunities.
While the deadline has passed, the Alumni Relations Office is still taking registrations for those who would like to participate.
Students and alumni may register for the upcoming Pittsburgh by visiting the Alumni Relations website. Bus transportation has been arranged for participating students.
