Glisan Co-Edits Special Issue of “Foreign Language Annals” on National Research Priorities in Foreign Language Teaching

GlisanEileen Glisan, professor of Spanish and foreign language education in the Department of Foreign Languages, co-edited a special issue of Foreign Language Annals, published in May 2012, that presents reviews of the research in areas designated as national research priorities based on the pivotal role they are likely to play in advancing the knowledge base and classroom practices in foreign language teaching.

The issue represents the results of Phase I of the National Research Priorities in Foreign Language Education Project of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Glisan is project director.

The goals of the project are as follows:

  1. to identify key areas in which research is currently needed in foreign language education,
  2. to sponsor this research, and
  3. to disseminate research findings to the field.
