Conversation Club Accepting Applications

Did you know there are over 600 international students from more than 70 countries at IUP? Don't miss out on an opportunity to get to know some of them and also share with them everything you love about the United States. Join the Conversation Club!

Partners meet at their convenience at least one hour per week during the fall and spring semesters. Partners can practice English or another language, share their cultures, and, naturally, have fun.

In addition to enjoying the Office of International Education-sponsored pot luck and the Foreign Film and Music series, many partners have gone out for coffee, cooked a meal together, gone bowling or ice skating, and taken excursions to Pittsburgh and many landmarks in the region. The world is your oyster.

Over the years, thousands of IUP students have been paired with international students as Conversation Club partners, and many participants have formed lifelong friendships.

American students attending IUP see Conversation Club membership as a terrific opportunity to welcome international students and to learn about other people and cultures. In addition to the virtue of being good hosts, Conversation Club members foster global goodwill. Many American students travel and study abroad as a result of their experience with Conversation Club. International students gain an understanding of American culture and become more conversational in English, learning key western PA words such as “yinz.”

If you're interested in being matched with a partner, please come to our informational meeting:
