Amy Nartatez HeinlThe President’s Commission on the Status of Women at IUP will hold its sixth annual Women’s Conference, focusing on the personal and professional development of women, Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

Participants may attend for a full day, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or just the morning or afternoon session. Both half-day sessions include lunch and the keynote presentation.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Women Have Heart,” and Indiana Regional Medical Center’s Spirit of Women program will again be the cosponsor.

Keynote speaker will be Amy Nartatez Heinl, a spokesperson for the American Heart Association. A 1991 IUP graduate and mother of three, Heinl exercised regularly and had no family history of heart disease when, at age 40, she nearly died of a heart condition known as spontaneous coronary artery dissection. Heinl will discuss her experience with the potentially fatal condition and her path to recovery and wellness.

The conference also will feature workshops on heart health, technology, organization, healthy eating, fitness, financial planning, and holistic living. A full list of workshops will be available soon.

The conference is free to IUP employees, with the registration fee paid by division vice presidents. The cost is $30 for IRMC employees, Spirit of Women members, IUP retirees, and current students. Other attendees will pay $50 for a full day or $35 for a half day.

To attend the conference, register on the IUP Marketplace website or complete and mail the registration form.

Tables for vendors or others who wish to display information are free for IUP departments, offices, programs, and services and $25 for the general public. To reserve a vending/display table, please complete the Vendor Registration Form.
