Time is running out to register for the sixth annual Women’s Conference on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
The deadline to register is Thursday, May 23. The conference, which focuses this year on women’s heart health, is sponsored by the IUP President’s Commission on the Status of Women, with Indiana Regional Medical Center’s Spirit of Women program as the cosponsor.
The conference will feature a number of hourlong workshops on diverse topics such as urban gardening, raising your iPhone IQ, mindfulness and meditation, women’s self defense, tai chi, healthy eating, the sandwich generation, office exercise, and financial planning. See a complete list of workshops on the conference website.
Keynote speaker will be Amy Nartatez Heinl, a spokesperson for the American Heart Association. A 1991 IUP graduate and mother of three, Heinl exercised regularly and had no family history of heart disease when, at age 40, she nearly died of a heart condition known as spontaneous coronary artery dissection. Heinl will discuss her experience with the potentially fatal condition and her path to recovery and wellness.
Participants may attend the conference for a full day, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or just the morning or afternoon session. Both half-day sessions include lunch and the keynote presentation.
The conference is free to IUP employees, with the registration fee paid by division vice presidents. The cost is $30 for IRMC employees, Spirit of Women members, IUP retirees, and current students. Other attendees will pay $50 for a full day or $35 for a half day.
To attend the conference, register on the IUP Marketplace website or complete and mail the registration form.
Tables for vendors or others who wish to display information are free for IUP departments, offices, programs, and services and $35 for the general public. To reserve a vending/display table, please complete the Vendor Registration Form.
