Twenty students from Sarah Neusius’ Anthropology 318, Museum Methods class visited the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Oakland on October 1, 2013.
Students were given the Carnegie Sampler Tour, which includes 45 minutes with a docent from each museum, and then had approximately three hours to explore exhibitions of interest to them further.
The Carnegie International exhibit had not yet opened, but students were able to view the Roads to Arabia exhibit now showing in the Natural History Museum.
These students' introduction to museology has included learning about the nature of various types of museums, and this visit provided an opportunity to experience similarities and differences firsthand.
