On Saturday, November 9, 2013, Ryan Padgett from Northern Kentucky University will present this Center for Teaching Excellence Saturday workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Crimson Event Center, Folger Hall. His presentation is titled “Together for Good: Collaborating In and Out of the Classroom.”

Padgett, a dynamic and energetic presenter, will kick off a universitywide discussion on November 8 about High Impact Practices (HIPs): the ten best practices in-and out-of-the-classroom that have been shown to be highly beneficial to the success of college students. He will remain on campus to present the Reflective Practice Saturday Workshop on November 9.

Padgett will address three of the HIPs specifically mentioned as topics of interest in the  Reflective Practice planning survey: Collaborative assignments and projects, involving undergraduates in activities to enhance scholarly engagement, and development of faculty-student creative/research projects. He will discuss both the “why” and the “how” of these practices and will offer effective strategies we can incorporate into our courses.
