Anthropology Professors Garcia, Poole, and Adams Present Research at American Anthropological Association

Anthropology professors participated in the 112th annual meetings of the American Anthropological Association in Chicago, Ill. This year’s theme was “Future Publics, Current Engagements.”

Three IUP Anthropology professors presented their research at the 2013 annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) held in Chicago, Ill., from November 20–24.

Victor Garcia presented a paper titled “Transnational Drug Abuse Treatments: Alcoholics Anonymous Use Among Mexican Farmworkers.”

Amanda Poole was a presenter at a roundtable titled “Anthropology, Extractive Industries, and Unconventional Energy.”

Abigail Adams presented a paper titled “Clandestine Narratives: Countering the Anonymity of Good Abortion Care.”

The AAA is the largest and most prestigious anthropological organization in the United States with approximately 6,000 professional anthropologists from around the globe attending the AAA meeting.
