Collins Performs Recital in Moscow

Zach Collins at the Moscow Tchaikovsky ConservatoryDepartment of Music faculty member Zach Collins traveled to Moscow, Russia, in January 2014 to perform at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

On January 15, Collins performed in a concert given in memory of Alexey Lebedev, the first professor of tuba at the Moscow Conservatory. He was invited by Professor Yuri Larin, the current professor of tuba and former student of Lebedev.

The invitation was extended following the HoodleBug Brass (IUP’s faculty brass quintet) successful tour of Russia in October 2012. Collins performed “Concert Allegro” by Lebedev on the program, accompanied by pianist Elena Ten. The concert was given in Rachmaninov Hall on the campus of the Moscow Conservatory. Other performers on the concert were from the Moscow Conservatory and from the Bolshoi Theater, the premier orchestra in Moscow.
