Anthropology Students and Alumna Present Research at Society of Applied Anthropology Meetings

Anthropology students and alumni presented their research at the 74th annual meetings for the Society of Applied Anthropology (SfAA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 18, 2014.

Lisa McCann presented “Community Gardens in Non-Urban Areas”; Rachel Scherer (double major, Criminology), “IUP ResLife Culture: A Comparison of Suite and Traditional Residence Halls”; and Katherine Fox, “Identifying Sources of Emotional Distress for Adolescent Chronically Ill Patients.”

Katherine Fox, a 2013 graduate and alumna of Anthropology, is currently a doctoral student in Medical Anthropology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

The students’ research was conducted as independent studies in the department under the guidance of Victor Garcia, and their findings were presented at a SfAA session organized by him, titled “Applied Anthropology, Praxis, and Student Research in Anthropology.”
