You’re posting Web content. But are you communicating?

Effective Web communications grab your visitors’ attention, and in just a few seconds do this:

  • Convey IUP brand and messaging;
  • Get across your office or department messaging;
  • Further your publicity goals;
  • Please and engage users—making them want to apply to your program, register for your event, share your page socially, etc.

Your resources may be limited, but if you think of Web communications as “short, sweet, and strategic,” you can make your webpages—informational, news, and marketing—do more for you and for IUP.

Join Deborah Klenotic, our communications strategist for electronic content, for a discussion of the substance of content. Learn best practices and tips on:

  • Audience: You might be surprised who’s coming to your page.
  • Message pillars: It’s 10:00 a.m. Do you know where your message pillars are?
  • Writing: Begin to write for the Web, not on the Web. And be aware of your microcontent—what it does and where it’s seen.
  • Photos: You. Need. Photos.
  • Formatting: Is there a bigger Web turn-off than a solid wall of 12-point type?
  • SEO basics: There’s no more gaming the Google system with link and keyword cramming. Content is king to Google—and to all of us!

What to bring: Your questions! A sample web page too, if you’d like.
