The 2014 IUP Spring Methodology Conference on Foreign Language Teaching took place on Friday, April 25, at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort and Conference Center.
About 145 participants from all levels of foreign language instruction attended the all-day conference.
The event featured a keynote speaker followed by three one-hour sessions, during which four different presenters offered workshops on a variety of topics relative to the teaching of foreign languages.
Bill VanPatten, professor of Spanish and Second Language Studies and affiliate faculty member in the Cognitive Science Program at Michigan State University, East Lansing, presented the keynote address entitled “21st Century Language Teaching: Let's Not Forget the Basics.” He followed this with a workshop for teachers entitled “Using Film in the Classroom to Provide Input and Promote Output.”
In 2015, we will celebrate our 40th year of presenting this conference to area foreign language teachers—our Ruby Anniversary!
