The Ovations! series,
presented by the Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is set to
present two major Broadway touring productions during the 2014–2015 season plus
one international theatrical event.
Direct from Asia will be
the National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China performing “Cirque
Peking” on November 11, 2014. The troupe was founded in 1951 and has remained
one of the most acclaimed acrobatic troupes in China and across the globe.
more than 200 artists performing since its founding, they
have won countless gold and silver awards at international and national
acrobatic competitions and circus festivals. Since their first visit to the
U.S. in 1972, the company has toured over 500 cities in 70 countries.
On January 20, 2015, Sister Act rolls into Fisher
Auditorium. Subtitled “A Divine Musical,” this Broadway hit is the feel-amazing
musical comedy smash that the New York
Post called “Ridiculously fun,” and audiences were jumping to their
feet in total agreement.
With inspiration from the
hit movie of the same name that featured Whoopi Goldberg, the score is filled
with original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of
Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier.
This wannabe diva’s life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and
the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look—a convent. Deloris
helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her
season will be Memphis the Musical on
Monday, May 4, 2015. Winner of four 2010
Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Memphis features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change)
and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi’s founding member

directed by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Xanadu) and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys).

Arts’ 25th anniversary season.
