Keystone Repertory Theater,
a summer theater in residence at IUP, presents the award-winning Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Thursday–Saturday, July 31–August 2, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday,
August 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Indiana Theater, 637 Philadelphia Street, Indiana.
This bloodthirsty musical centers
around the wrongfully imprisoned Sweeney Todd. A barber by trade, he returns to
London ready to seek revenge on those who took away everything he loved,
including his daughter Joanna.
With an epic score and
lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a haunting book by Hugh Wheeler, this wildly
popular story takes the audience on a tour of the underbelly of London’s back
streets. Due to its violent content, it is not recommended for younger
The production is directed
by KRT artistic director Nick Hrutkay (IUP ’11). The cast includes nine IUP
students and alumni.
