Temporary Volunteer Positions Available

Various temporary volunteer positions are available to assist nonprofit agencies in the community! 

St. Thomas More University Parish and Catholic Student Center

St. Thomas More University Parish and Catholic Student Center Newman, 1200 Oakland Avenue, Used Book Sale: Volunteers are sought to assist preparing for this annual event, where more than 120,000 used books, CDs, DVDs, and games are sold. 

Volunteers needed for:

  • Book Sort on September 13, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. 
  • Set-up on September 14, 3:00–6:00 p.m.
  • Organizing books: September 15–18, 10:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. 
  • Cashiering and directing traffic during the sale: September 19, 4:00–10:00 p.m.; September 20, 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; September 21, 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Care and Share Day Food Drive

Ten to fifteen people are needed to stuff food drive flyers into the Indiana Gazette newspaper on Saturday, September 22, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please contact Aimee Kemp at 724-463-7440 or e-mail akemp@iccap.net.

Grocers Fight Cancer Day

The Indiana Giant Eagle, 475 Ben Franklin Road, Indiana, PA, will be participating in the Grocers Fight Cancer Day, where a percentage of the total sales from the day are donated to the American Cancer Society. Volunteers are needed on Thursday, October 2, 2014, to assist with bagging groceries.

Indiana Free Library 

Evening in the Stacks is the Indiana Free Library’s major fundraiser of the year. Over the years, the assistance of IUP students has been a major factor in its success. 

Students are needed on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, October 22, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Five IUP students to decorate the library for Thanksgiving.
  • Monday, December 1, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Five IUP students to take down the Thanksgiving decorations, pack them up, and store them in the basement storage area. Bring the Christmas decorations up from the storage area to the first floor.
  • Monday, December 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
    Five IUP students to decorate the library for Christmas.
  • Saturday, January 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
    Five local IUP students to take down the Christmas decorations and store them in the basement
