Students at the IUP Punxsutawney campus recently spent their time serving others as they created “get well” and “thinking of you” messages sent to children at Pittsburgh’s Children’s Hospital. They also made cards of support and gratitude for members of the military.
These and other activities take place each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Living Center during Life Skills Discussions. The initiative is designed to support students through their transition from high school to college study and from home communities to Punxsutawney.
The initiative also fosters personal growth, self-awareness, and a more intentional effort to succeed during the first year of college. The group engages in community service activities as a way to foster sensitivity and awareness of the needs of others. The weekly gathering is open to all students.
