Culinary Academy and baccalaureate students studying at the IUP Punxsutawney regional campus greeted family members and friends at the fall semester midpoint. Over 250 guests joined students for a day of activities and a welcome break from studies.
Family members and students were treated to a full breakfast buffet featuring a special-order omelet bar and the annual culinary student fruit carving display. Words of welcome, student musical performances, and a raffle of locally donated gift baskets all helped begin the day.
Afternoon opportunities included a film, bingo games, t-shirt and bake sales raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Month, transportation to the IUP football game and Co-op Store, the annual Punxsutawney Community Halloween Fest, and shopping at regional tourist sites.
The Punxsutawney Campus Choir, celebrating its 10th year, hosted a reunion and provided words of encouragement and advice to current students.
The day concluded with a prime rib buffet and photo opportunities with Punxsutawney Phil. President Michael Driscoll and Provost Timothy Moerland joined students and family members at the evening buffet, congratulating the students for their academic efforts thus far. The opportunity for students, family members, and IUP personnel to reconnect was greatly appreciated by all who attended.
