IUP Police and the Office of Communications and Marketing will be conducting a test of our Emergency Notification System on Thursday, November 20, 2014 between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.
Here’s what you need to know.
Our text message system only works if we have your correct cell phone number. To check what number we have on file for you, visit your Personal Info page in MyIUP. Then follow the “Emergency text message sign-up” link in the “Personal Information” box.
Our text messaging system will also make voice calls to campus phones in the event of an emergency. However, due to the nature of voice calling, these calls can take several hours to complete. In most cases, having an up-to-date cell phone number to which we can send text messages will provide you with the fastest notification about weather and other emergencies.
IUP also provides weather and emergency information via other channels.
