The language learning social network WeSpeke.com held its first contest, “Language Practice Goes Global.”

A total of 625 classes across the United States using WeSpeke.com to practice languages and share cultures with native speakers in over 22 countries entered the competition. They entered by reaching out to speakers of the target languages they were studying, meeting native speakers of that language online, and exchanging views and opinions. In the Universities and Colleges category, IUP French students ranked 2nd nationally as top texters (asynchronous written text messages) and top talkers (synchronous video chats), just behind the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Champaign, IL), and just before Brigham Young University (Provo, UT).
