IUP Punxsutawney hosted its first-ever Discovery Day for Punxsutawney Area High School. Fifty juniors and seniors explored the advantages of completing their first year of study at the community-based campus.
Visiting students participated in a discussion designed to stimulate their personal and financial preparation for college, then were given a tour of the state-of-the-art Learning and Support Centers.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for Punxsy students to get their first year of college locally at considerably less expense,” explained PAHS guidance counselor Emily Cassidy.
The Discovery Day for local students is part of a new initiative to strengthen the campus enrollment and persistence outcomes. The IUP Punxsutawney regional campus is celebrating its 53rd year of offering baccalaureate instruction.
