Call for Posters in Celebration of International Women’s Day

To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Office of International Education (OIE) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is sponsoring the first International Women’s Day Symposium on Monday, March 23, 2015, in the HUB’s Ohio Room.

In this year’s symposium, we offer a unique forum for all IUP students to network and present their research projects on any topic related to women around the world. Potential topics include women’s accomplishments, historical perspectives, cultural perspectives, challenges, etc. In addition to poster presentations, the symposium will provide rich and varied opportunities for attendees, including networking and participating in a guest speakers’ session.

The poster session is open to all IUP students. While there will be time dedicated to meet and greet during the poster session portion of the symposium, the information contained on each poster should speak for itself. We will be hosting a Six O’Clock Series in the evening, and posters will be on display before and after the event from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.

This forum provides participants with an opportunity to visually present research and project storyboards on women’s issues while engaging in discussions about matters related to women. Special care will be taken to ensure that a variety of topics and a broad geographical/cultural range are represented in this symposium.

General Guidelines:

Please submit a poster presentation abstract of 200 words that clearly describes your poster no later than March 6, 2015. Please include your name, Banner ID, your major, and your poster’s title. Submit your abstract via e-mail to the Office of International Education at intl-education@iup.edu.

Upon acceptance:

  1. Each presenter is required to register for the symposium. The registration fee is $10 cash paid to the Office of International Education no later than March 16, 2015. The trifold display boards will be provided by the office.
  2. The presenting author must bring his or her poster to the registration desk on the day of the symposium.
  3. The presenting author must attend and present the poster at the symposium.
