February 16 may have been Decision Day here at IUP, but it was also the day that 63 Chinese high school students set foot on the IUP campus. The students were attending a winter camp held by Greater Johnstown High School that allowed them to attend high school classes, visit Washington, D.C., and tour local universities. The students were accompanied by Dai Dong from International Foundation Alliance (IFA), who coordinates visits for students interested in attending high school and then university in the United States.

The Office of International Education (OIE), with assistance from the IUP Admissions Office, led the students on campus tours which included visits to the Suites on Maple East, Stapleton Library, McElhaney Hall classrooms, Fisher Auditorium, the American Language Institute (ALI), and the Oak Grove.

Visiting Chinese students at lunchUpon completion of the tour, the students shopped at the Co-Op Store and then attended lunch hosted by the OIE in the HUB Ohio Room. IUP’s President, Michael Driscoll, and the assistant vice president for International Education and Global Engagement, Michele Petrucci, welcomed the students with opening remarks.

In a few years, we hope to welcome some of the 63 students who attended this visit right here at IUP!
