Ashley McCuistion, a student in the Applied Archaeology MA program, published an article titled “Beneath Washington’s Feet: A Study and Analysis of Prehistory at Ferry Farm” in the Quarterly Bulletin of the Archaeological Society of Virginia.

McCuistion’s article analyzes the prehistoric archaeological materials from George Washington’s boyhood home at Ferry Farm, Virginia. This topic often receives less attention than the great man’s childhood, but is an important component of Virginia’s history. This research was part of McCuistion’s senior thesis at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The Quarterly Bulletin of the Society publishes professional and avocational papers relevant to research in Virginia. The topics range from Paleo-Indian Research through to the archeology of the 20th century.
