IUP graduate students Emily Masters and Hannah Harvey, both Pennsylvania Highway Archaeological Survey Team (PHAST) members, and William Chadwick conducted a ground-penetrating radar survey on September 4, 2015, in Schuylkill Haven, Pa, after a PennDOT project found human remains potentially related to the 1918 Spanish Flue epidemic.

In August, human remains were found near the road while construction workers were doing the State Route 61 widening project through Schuylkill Haven. The exact number of remains and who exactly they belong to is unknown.
