The Chemistry Department held its annual homecoming event October 3, 2015, in Weyandt Hall after the parade. The countdown to replacing Weyandt Hall has started, and a new science building will be built in 2020.
Alumni, current students, faculty, and retired faculty all joined in reconnecting with one another. Department photo albums were on display while memories were shared over gourmet pastries and coffee. Alumni brought their spouses and children to share in the experience. More than 25 people participated in this year’s event.
This year was the first year to hold a Friday Happy Hour at the suggestion of our alumni. Alumni, faculty, and students shared stories and advice on work and graduate opportunities.
T-shirts this year featured a view of Weyandt Hall from the Oak Grove with “Back In My Day... We Had Weyandt Hall.” The t-shirt celebrates our alumni and the soon-to-be “old” building.
Our goal for the next homecoming is to have a design competition among the alumni for the 2016 Homecoming t-shirt.
Students from the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Alpha Chi Sigma (AXE) had a chance to network with the alumni and provided tours of Weyandt Hall. The students sported their famous homecoming t-shirts, which sold our three separate times the week leading up to the homecoming weekend.
