Professor David Piper, Chair of the Employment and Labor Relations Department, recently presented an extensive seminar on conflict resolution to the participants of the Leadership Indiana County Program.
Topics included sources of conflict in the workplace and how to handle them. Participants learned about their own style in conflict situations and discovered some potential differences in men and women and also learned how to read non-verbal signals.
The Leadership Indiana County (LIC) program is a countywide, multimonth training program for 25-45 year-old business and community leaders. It is offered to the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce and administered by the MARTI Institute at IUP.
The director of the program is Erick Lauber (Journalism and Public Relations), under the supervision of Alex Heckert (Sociology — which houses the Ph.D. in Administration and Leadership Studies) and Victor Garcia (Anthropology — director of the MARTI Institute).
