Smith-Sherwood Presents on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Dawn Smith-Sherwood, Department of Foreign Languages (Spanish), presented her essay "From Content Coverage to Cultural/Linguistic Competence: A Literature Course, a Professor, and a Call to Action" at the 2016 Modern Language Association (MLA) annual convention, celebrated January 7–10 in Austin, Tex.

Her work, which formed part of the panel "Second-Language Literary Reading and Applied Linguistics," presented her ongoing efforts to operationalize recent applied linguistics research in the teaching of SPAN 260, Introduction to Hispanic Literature, a course taken by all IUP Spanish majors and minors.
