A reminder that the registration deadline is fast approaching for a valuable upcoming training. Presented by Markel Consulting, LLC and hosted by the Office of Social Equity,
Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI) training will be held on
Thursday, March 31, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Kovalchick
Convention and Athletic Complex.
This training is fundamental for any professional who interviews,
responds to, or interacts with trauma victims. This includes campus
advocates, student conduct and residence life personnel, health service
providers and mental health professionals, and law enforcement
Participants will learn how to use FETI to ensure that
trauma victims feel safe and understood, to maximize recall, and to
enhance the investigative process overall by increasing victim
cooperation and participation while reducing potentials for false
information and recantation.
The Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview enables
investigators and other interviewers to understand how victims, due to
automatic reactions by their brains, actually experienced their assaults
and record them into memory. Key to effective evidence gathering, this
technique reduces the inaccuracy of the information provided by a victim
during an interview and greatly enhances the understanding of the
traumatized person’s experience. It is a highly effective technique for
victim, witness, and some suspect interviews.
The registration fee
is $60, with Thursday, March 24, as the registration deadline date. This training is
open to all IUP personnel, employees from other State System schools, and
local and state professionals. Seating is limited, but still available. Registrations are now open through the IUP Conference Services Marketplace.
