In its annual celebration of International Education Week, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Office of International Education will host an art exhibit during the week of October 17, 2016, in IUP’s Robertshaw building. This is free and open all week to the public.

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare students for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

The theme of this year’s art exhibit is “Creative Coexistence.” The idea of coexistence could include coexistence of divergent colors, contrasting themes, or utilization of two or more different mediums in a single artwork. The artwork could also represent the coexistence between different people, people and nature, artificial and natural, etc.

All IUP students—domestic and international—are encouraged to participate by presenting their unique perception of our theme through creative artwork.

Entry Instructions:

  • Students can submit up to two photos of three different pieces (JPEG submissions; 2,000–3,000 pixels) to intl-education@iup.edu no later than September 20, 2016.
  • A $10 submission fee will be charged for everyone.
  • If artwork is selected, you will be asked to e-mail a short statement describing your work in relation to the context of the show, which will be displayed with your art in the exhibition.

Selected participants will be notified on or before October 1. If artwork is selected for this show, original artwork must be ready to be hung and sculptures should be ready for display. One or two submissions will be awarded cash prizes for Best of Show.
