Teaching Opportunity in Italy: Call for Proposals

Posted on 9/28/2016 11:18:35 AM

IUP is seeking proposals for a faculty-leader to teach a three-credit course in Florence, Italy, in summer 2017. This faculty-leader will be responsible for designing an IUP-approved undergraduate course to teach while on-site in Italy.

We’ve taken care of the logistics; you focus on the academics. Courses need not be directly related to Italy, Italian language, and/or culture. The setting may provide opportunities for studies in comparisons (business, education, science, arts, etc.), history of your area specialty, or another unique way to tie the course to Italy. Program will be held in Florence, Italy.

IUP faculty-leader responsibilities:

  • Department and college approvals
  • On-campus recruitment (with the help of OIE)
  • Participation in the Education Abroad Fair (October 19 at the HUB)
  • Pre-departure meeting in April 2017

The dates, travel logistics, housing accommodations, cultural excursions, and price are already set. The faculty-leader will stay in an apartment that may be able to accommodate a spouse/dependent. The faculty expenses will be covered by the program. The faculty-leader will need to discuss salary compensation with their academic dean.

All interested tenured or tenure-track faculty will submit  a proposal on (the Education Abroad Faculty page) that will consist of the following:

  1. PDF application
  2. Rationale for course
  3. Resume (four pages maximum)
  4. Signature routing form
