E-mail Scam: TekSystems

There is a scam e-mail targeting college students. This e-mail is designed to trick students into disclosing personal information used to steal money and potentially engage in other criminal activity. These e-mails falsely indicate they are being sent by a legitimate company, TEKSystems – they are not. 

The subject of the e-mail is “Part Time Job Offer” and the content of the message is:

 

Dear Student,

      We got your contact through your school database and I'm happy to inform you that our reputable company TEKsystems, Inc® is currently running a student empowerment programme. This programme is to help loyal and hardworking students like you secure a part time job which does not deter you from doing any other, you just need a few hours to do this weekly and with an attractive weekly salary. 

KINDLY EMAIL BACK WITH YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS IF INTERESTED IN THIS JOB POSITION.

Note some of the spelling that indicates this e-mail may be coming from outside the U.S.
