IUP Police and the Office of Communications and Marketing will
conduct a test of our Emergency Notification System on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, between 10:45 and 11:45 a.m.
During the test, you will receive a text message to indicate the test has begun. The IUP home page will turn to “emergency status,” and an announcement about the test will be made over the emergency notification PA system in the Sutton Bell tower and
the Miller Stadium sound systems.
Our text-message system only works if we have your correct cell phone number. To check what number we have on file for you, visit your Personal Info page in MyIUP. Then follow
the “Emergency text message sign-up” link in the “Personal Information” box.
In the event of an emergency, our text-messaging system will also make voice calls to campus phones . However, due to the nature of voice calling, these calls can take several hours to complete. In most cases, having an up-to-date cell phone number to which
we can send text messages will provide you with the fastest notification about weather and other emergencies.
IUP also provides weather and emergency information via other channels.
