The Department of Communication Disorders, Special Education,
and Disability Services wants to thank the IUP community for making the seventh
annual Confections for a Cause event a huge success!
Confections for a Cause is an annual bake sale with the
goal of raising money for the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Last
year, the bake sale raised $1,540. This year, we set a new record, raising
$1,610. Thank you for once again to the IUP community for making this event a huge success.
We would like to thank Vickie Johnson, Celia Barber, and
Shari Robertson for organizing this spectacular event. We had donations of
baked goods from Insomnia Cookies, members of the local community, and family
members of those who have faced ovarian cancer.
Our IUP student groups also contributed to the success of
this event by organizing, baking, accepting donations, and selling additional
merchandise. Thank you to the following IUP student organizations:
We raffled off several handmade items this year during the
event with the following winners: a wreath won by Tina Brocious from Vocational
Education, a snowman won by Gina McGaughey from Vocational Education, and a
scarf and mittens won by Mariha Shields of Special Education.
We were once again able to send a sizable donation to the
Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which seeks to raise awareness of the
disease, find an early detection test for ovarian cancer, and find improved
treatments for the disease.
Thank you, IUP! We look forward to hosting this event again
