Lara Homsey-Messer, Anthropology associate professor, recently received appointments to two national archaeology committees: the Society for American Archaeology's Public Education committee and the Archaeological Conservancy's editorial board for American Archaeology magazine.
The mission of the SAA's Public Education Committee (PEC) is to provide leadership in education about archaeology to a broad public audience. The PEC is charged with providing expert advice to the SAA Board on public education and outreach, as well as developing educational materials and workshops to promote archaeological stewardship and appreciation.
The Archaeological Conservancy's (TAC) editorial board solicits and reviews manuscripts for publication in its popular magazine, American Archaeology, which showcases archaeological sites and research being conducted around the world. TAC is the only national, nonprofit organization that works to acquire and preserve significant archaeological sites in the United States.
