IUP Faculty Present at PMEA In-Service Conference

Several IUP faculty members gave presentations or performances at the Annual In-Service Conference of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) in Hershey, Pa., April 17–19.

Dr. David Ferguson presented “More than Singing Cats: YouTube and Internet Resources for Music Appreciation”; Dr. Kevin Eisensmith, with Psychology professor Donald Robertson, gave a workshop on “Managing Music Performance Anxiety,” teaching students how performance anxiety happens and what to do; Dr. Jack Scandrett, with the Hoodlebug Brass (IUP faculty members Kevin Eisensmith, David Ferguson, Christian Dickinson, Zachary Collins, and Jack Scandrett) showed the results of their work with student ensembles using videoconferencing, “iNet Prep: Small Ensemble Coaching via Real-Time Videoconferencing; and the IUP Flute Quartet, under the direction of Dr. Therese Wacker, performed several “mini-concerts.”

The PMEA Annual In-Service Conference is attended by music educators in the Pennsylvania schools and also the students who were chosen to perform in the Pennsylvania All-State music ensembles.
